The Stylus Group – Canadian based organization created to support, develop, recognize and award the Canadian DJ Industry has announced their nominee listing for the 2009 Stylus DJ Awards, presented by Marc Ecko Watches – www.marceckotime.ca

The Stylus DJ Awards are a unique facet to the DJ and Urban culture in Canada. As the only institution recognizing the breadth of DJ talent in Canada; Stylus are able to bring a forum that allows DJs and Canadian Artists to display and perform their talent to the Canadian Music industry and public on a heightened scale. The Stylus events throughout SpinFest and the Stylus DJ Awards harbour performances, a music conference, concerts and local events, all allowing Canadian Artists to flourish and be recognized.

A record setting 10, 018 DJ fans from across Canada and around the globe, cast their votes online at www.stylusgroup.ca to nominate their favourite DJs. A board of directors comprised of industry tastemakers will determine the 2009 winners.
The 2009 Stylus DJ Awards will honour the achievements and progress made by Canadian DJs in their respective categories.

DJs gathering multiple nominations this year are; Wristpect (Toronto), Jester (Toronto) with five nominations each, P Plus (Toronto) with three nominations and Payce (Montreal), D@x (Montreal), DJ Pump (Calgary), Kwite Sane (Montreal), DJ
Law (Toronto), Baba Kahn (Toronto), Ill Kidz (Toronto), J-Swing (Vancouver), Miss M (Winnipeg) and Spex (Toronto), all with two nominations each. Now in its fourth year – the Stylus Group brings stellar competition forward with the introduction of three new Categories; West Coast DJ of the Year, Central DJ of the Year and East Coast DJ of the Year. These three categories allow for DJs from all across Canada to be included in this year’s award show; giving DJs in every market a platform to voice their artistry. Along with these new categories, 18 other awards will be handed out including the top award of the evening; Club DJ of the Year, presented by Marc Ecko Watches.

The Stylus Group will also be honouring and recognizing the careers of Hall of Fame inductees; DJ Earl Da Pearl (Vancouver) and Maceo Sound (Toronto). The Stylus Group would like to thank the thousands of fans who voted for their favourite DJs. It’s great to see a mixture of established and up and coming DJs represented in this year’s categories.’

I got inspired to do it for a party I am doing for my boy Ian Andre Espinet called ‘GroovEssentials’ which a groovy soca party @IslandMix in PIckering (1050 Brock Rd)! ENCORE VOL5 – BREAKING HITS EDITION maser –

Due to the high volume of downloads for ‘Encore Vol.5: Breaking Hits’ with Jester & Kid Kut [X-Caliber Entourage] I have created an imeem account and will be putting all of our upcoming mixtapes on this!

I know this is not the final cover or release for the mixtape but I couldn’t wait any longer. I persoanlly believe it is one of our best mixtapes to date. I’m excited so I want to share with all of you. I will post the final version with artwork & everything on Wednesday. Our photographer Richard (yougottalove.com) is putting the final tweeks the photo and Black Star Graphic (Ian Andre Espinet) will be doing the final artwork. I’m sending it for duplication so if u want a hard copy of the mixtape just check myself or Kid Kut at any of our events. This is the perfect way to start of the spring/summer (whenever it really arrives) with smash hits! I was on a fellow DJs blog page – my homie Baby Yu and stumbled on this clip and I could not stop laughing! Tears were rolling down my face. Uncontrollably!
